About us
Introduction
The Samfya and Beyond Rural Outreach Missions (S’BROM) is a not for profit Christian organisation. It was formally set up on 15 November,2024, to formalise and piece together the ongoing mission project that has assisted and complemented the work pioneered by Pastor Adam Phiri, in rural villages such Kapata, Chipundu.and Twingi, located in the Samfya province of Zambia (https://ruraloutreachmissions.com/)
The members of S’Brom, partners, friends and family have contributed to the
- Installation of piped water, and a free standing pipe, accessible to families in compounds in the village of Twingi, in 2024.
- Provision of life jackets in 2023, to the community whose staple means of substenance is fishing, using small canoe type boats, on a vast area of lake. Hence the frequent loss of life through drowning.
- Provision of uniforms and books and stationery to kindergarten age children, to enable them to attend school and give them access to an education.
- Send relief to children who have been orphaned
- Send relief to families in need
- The building of an orphanage to accommodate babies and children who are orphaned or neglected by members of their family
The long term goal is to extend the mission across borders to other villages that are in need of practical and spiritual help.
ETHOS
The ethos is based on the following scriptures:
Mark 16:15 (NLT)
‘And then he told them’, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone…”
Matt.25:34-40 (NLT)
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.
35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.
36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me
37 Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?
38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing?
39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
40 And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!
Mission
The mission is to become a light and vehicle to propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ and be an expression of the love of God to the forgotten rural communities, such as Samfya, other rural parts of Zambia and surrounding regions in Africa. The goals are to:
- Establish clear lines of communication with the communities served, with donors and partners through various channels such as social media, newsletters and email updates.
- Conduct regular needs assessment to understand the specific needs of the communities by regularly assessing their needs and prioritizing of financial resources accordingly.
III. Secure a mix of funding sources, including individual donations, grants, corporate sponsorships and in-kind donations, to ensure financial stability and reduce reliance on a single source.
- Track progress and implement projects through a robust monitoring and evaluation system, enabling data driven decision making for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with local organisations, government agencies and community leaders to ensure project sustainability and long term success.
- Develop a volunteer programme: Empower local communities to participate in programmes and projects as volunteers, to increase capacity
VII. Recruit and train volunteers to be culturally sensitive and adaptable; fostering understanding of the local contexts.
VIII. Organise mission trips to these communities to encourage and maintain educational, social and spiritual activities’, in order to enrich the lives of the poor, orphaned children, widows and other vulnerable groups.
- Raise awareness of the challenges faced by rural communities in Samfya and beyond and promote these through various channels within Christian and non Christian communities within the UK and beyond.
- Operate as an ecumenical partnership consisting of individuals from different Christian denominations
How we Work
The day to day running of the organisation is carried out by a management committee, consisting of six individuals. These are:
- Chair
- Vice Chair
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Project Officer
- Networking Partner, currently Pastor Adam Phiri, the Founder and Overseer for Rural Outreach Missions. His role is to provide general oversight, spiritual guidance and feedback on field work in rural communities in the African regions under his remit.
The committee meets at least every six weeks, via Zoom or WhatsApp, due to their diverse geographical locations within the United Kingdom (UK) and abroad. Regular updates are uploaded to the Missio Dei group platform. A consensus is required for decisions on major issues.
